Now that's what I call thrift: #32

When was the last time you went to a museum or gallery? Or, seeing as your answer to that will probably be “too long ago to remember” if you’re anything like me, when was the last time you thought about going to a museum or gallery? Expensive aren’t they? Not if you’re thrifty they’re not.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided it was high time I visited the People’s History Museum, and the Manchester Art Gallery - for reviewing purposes I might add, see Manchester Mapped - both free, and both excellent. The Manchester Art Gallery did request a £3 donation, but I’m just going to go back and pay that when I have more money…However, a lot of the cultural institutions around us do cost a lot of money, so here’s a way to dampen the blow, and in many cases, gain free entry...

#32: National Art Pass

The good people at ‘The Art Fund’ - whose tagline is ‘helping Museums and Galleries buy art for everyone - are offeriing a three month, no obligation, free pass to many of Britain’s best cultural institutions! Admittedly, some the the museums and galleries involved aren’t the biggest names in the business, but never fear, the card also gives you half price entry to the likes of The British Museum, The Imperial War Museum, The Science Museum, and all of the Tates. Bargain.

Here’s your linkage: https://www.artfund.org/join/landing/guardian

To be honest, the design of the card looks like it will be a pretty stylish addition to your wallet on its own.
